An Organic Cotton & Wool mattress is an innerspring unit layered with organic cotton batting with a layer of premium PURE GROW WOOL as the top layer of cushioning.
These beds feature heat tempered coils, which are more flexible than coils that are not heat tempered and therefore last longer. Since pure wool is NATURALLY FIRE RESISTANT, fire retardant chemicals are not required. No doctor's prescription is required, unlike other purely organic cotton filled mattresses.
The wool also is a wonderful surface to sleep on, as it wicks moisture away from the body. Because of this quality, wool beds are also resistant to dustmites, which prefer moist cool environments.
The mattress includes a solid posture foundation, which means it is supportive enough to be used without a boxspring, however having an all natural Box Spring is recommended.
Three different firmnesses are available based on the spring unit used (coil counts are for full size). They are: Firm (312 coils), Extra Firm (522 coils), Super Firm (1000 coils). The extra firm mattress is recommended for most people offering firmness and support without being overly stiff. Mattresses are 7" deep and will fit in standard bed sheets.
Boxsprings are 7" deep.
